The IEM Katowice 2020 Grand Finals is set and ready to go, with an unexpected Natus Vincere vs G2 Esports matchup.
Both underdogs heading into the penultimate day’s matches, G2 Esports and Natus Vincere proved with their performances that nothing is set in stone. The latter’s performance was especially noteworthy after consecutive impressive clutch showings secured them wins against Team Liquid and Astralis, who are the #3 and #1 CS GO teams in the world, respectively.
With that said, join us as we break down our betting analysis and try to make a betting prediction for what’s arguably the most unexpected Grand Final tournament turnout in professional CS:GO in a while.
Natus Vincere vs G2 Esports Analysis
Natus Vincere’s performance so far has been impressive. Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev, in particular, has been playing out of his mind in what’s easily his best tournament performance in what seems like forever, as he currently leads all players with a 1.30 rating in 15 maps this tournament.
But that’s just the thing, even though Natus Vincere’s lineup is arguably the most skilled it has ever fielded in s1mple’s time with the team, it still all boils down to s1mple to secure them these victories.
Against G2 Esports, we’re not quite sure that’s enough.
You see, G2 Esports have an answer to s1mple in the form of Kenny “kennyS” Schrub.
While kennyS’s numbers don’t exactly match-up with s1mple, it’s pretty close. The best part? G2 Esports have easily been the best team in the tournament so far, with a 1.19 rating across 10 maps.
They’ve been so much better than the rest that the gap between G2 Esports and the next team, Astralis, who posted a 1.12 rating as a team in 8 maps, is many times larger than the gap between Astralis and Natus Vincere (1.11 rating in 15 maps).
The fact that Natus Vincere faced numerous close calls and had to rely on s1mple multiple times to secure them improbable round wins to make it here doesn’t help their chances either.

Natus Vincere vs G2 Esports Betting Prediction
We’re not exactly quite sure what happened with G2 Esports, but everything’s been clicking for them these past few weeks. kennyS, in particular, has performed more like his former self. This vintage performance from the french professional CS:GO player bodes well for G2 Esports’ chances of winning IEM Katowice 2020, especially if he can keep it up even if s1mple goes ham.
Speaking of s1mple going ham, the fact that Natus Vincere still rely far too often on him to bail them out is a huge problem.
G2 Esports isn’t just a one-man team. They can and have survived kennyS not going superhuman for them at certain points throughout the tournament. The same can’t be said for Natus Vincere.
With that said, our money’s on G2 Esports winning this.
