It’s a battle of the most mechanically talented teams of Dota 2 at the DreamLeague Season 13 – Leipzig Major 2020 as Evil Geniuses square off against Vici Gaming in front of a live audience on January 23.
As a highly anticipated matchup, this is bound to be one of the classics. As such, you best bet (get it?) that we’ll have a betting prediction for the match up. Read below to find out our picks for the Evil Geniuses vs Vici Gaming matchup.
Evil Geniuses vs Vici Gaming Betting Analysis
All oddsmakers currently have Vici Gaming as the favourites to win against Evil Geniuses. This is not surprising. This season alone, Vici Gaming have been responsible for eliminating Evil Geniuses twice already. In fact, Vici Gaming sent Evil Geniuses tumbling down the lower brackets at the MDL Chengdu Major in the very same round. Meanwhile, they also swept Evil Geniuses when they meet in the Grand Finals of the ONE Esports Singapore Invitational.
But does that mean that Evil Geniuses literally have no chance? Not quite. The thing is, prior to this season, Evil Geniuses actually held an edge over Vici Gaming.
In fact, Evil Geniuses was 5-2 against Vici Gaming last season.
Now, that’s something. Even though this season’s Evil Geniuses roster is different, it’s arguably also better. They’re much more mechanically skilled, and with already nearly half a season’s worth of practice, they’re already at a much better place in terms of chemistry than they were earlier this year.
This gives them a much better chance against Vici Gaming this time around than they did before.
Evil Geniuses vs Vici Gaming Betting Prediction
While we do think that Evil Geniuses have a much better chance against Vici Gaming on January 23, that doesn’t mean we’re going with them.
Our pick remains with Vici Gaming for one good reason – coaching.
The coaching edge is too significant to ignore. Bai “rOtK” Fan has had three seasons to figure out how to put his players in a position to succeed, especially his core players. On the other hand, even though Tal “Fly” Aizik still has a lot of input in the drafts, we’ve seen Sam “BuLba” Sosale draft his team into a corner far too many times than we can count already.
Ultimately though, we’re feeling a little risk-averse, as we go with a map pick for this one. But if you’re willing to take the jump, the odds for Vici Gaming are looking far better than they are for Evil Geniuses.
