As we look to build on our success from Day 1, we take a look at one of the four matchups for Day 2 of the Bucharest Minor Playoffs. In particular, our eyes are set on the clash between the European teams, OG and Ninjas in Pyjamas.
Tomorrow, both teams will be competing with their tournament lives on the line, with the winners advancing to play yet another elimination match later on in the day, and the losers going home with a 5th-6th place finish to their name.
OG continues to underwhelm. The reigning The International 2018 champions’ disappointment came yesterday in their rematch against Gambit Esports where they lost 0-2 and posted a mere 6 total kills the entire series to their opponent’s 62. In both games, OG picked Razor for their midlaner, Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen, which severely limited his playmaking potential. Meanwhile, his lane opponent, Andrey “Afoninje” Afonin, enjoyed favourable picks in both games, allowing him to dominate Topson and the rest of OG to the tune of 22 total kills the entire series while posting 0 deaths.
Luckily for OG, if there’s one team who’s been even more disappointing than they have been, it’s Ninjas in Pyjamas.
Composed of elite and talented players and captained by Peter “ppd” Dagger, Ninjas in Pyjamas had one of the best lineups in the world on paper coming out of the offseason. Instead of dominating, however, they’re barely scraping by.
OG’s problems are drafting and communication, both fixable if only temporarily. Ninjas in Pyjamas’ woes are far more complicated and can’t simply be fixed in a single night. As a result, we’re banking on OG learning from their past mistakes and taking this best-of-three matchup tomorrow.
Betting tip / prediction: OG to win.
