When Europe and North America clash, it’s always an outright war between the players and fans of the two rival regions. While G2 and Liquid are both likely to advance to the knockout stage of LoL’s Mid-Season Invitational 2019, the placing is of utmost importance, and this, along with the regional pride, is sure to make this one of the most-watched games of the tournament.
Liquid are doing about as well as it was expected from them: handily beating Phong Vũ and splitting games with Flash Wolves, while losing to the other opposition quite heavily. Their bottom lane has been very good and will probably continue to be their focal point, but their mid-jungle duo will need to step up quite a lot in order to go even with G2’s Jankos and Caps.
G2, on the other hand, are having a great tournament so far, losing only to the untouchable Invictus Gaming and goofing out a game against the Vietnamese underdogs. This G2 squad is everything TL should be afraid of – highly proficient laners, early game dominance and the fact that this team simply refuses to sit and wait around for things to happen. Aside from Doublelift and Impact putting the entire team on their shoulders, it’s going to be extremely hard for Liquid to get a good result here.
The slow North American style of play really isn’t a good matchup against the meta-favoured aggression, and it is likely that TL are going to get smashed a bit harder than expected, so except a G2 victory, adding some other bets could be a good idea.
